Covington County's District Attorney's Office says a man has pled guilty to a crime he committed 9 years ago.
Officials say 27-year-old Shane D. Long has pled guilty to his role in a home invasion which occurred in December of 2005. He is being charged with robbery second degree and burglary second degree and has been sentenced to 15 years on each count.
On New Year's Eve of 2005, Long and his father Jackie D. Long entered a home on Highway 137 in Wing, where they proceeded to rob and brutally assault the homeowner Henry Jordan. Jordan's wife and children were also inside the home during the time.
Both Shane and his father Jackie were indicted by a Covington County Grand Jury in June of 2013 after the investigation was reopened by the District Attorney's Office.
District Attorney Walt Merrell stated, "Sometimes, to truly find justice, we have to be patient. I am thankful that the men on that Task Force were patient enough to find all of the pieces of the puzzle, and put this case together. They did a great job and I'm glad they found this piece of justice for the Jordan family."
Upon his sentencing and plea agreement with the state, officials say Long has also agreed to fully cooperate with the prosecution of his father.
