Police arrested a man for supplying illegal "relaxation shots" to several markets in Davidson County.
Police said they located over 3,000 bottles of the illegal shots at Rum Wholesale. Mohammad Amer is the owner and is now facing charges.
Three Nashville businesses have been closed and declared public nuisances after police say they were selling those "relaxation shots."
The stores include Discount Tobacco & Beer on Robinson Road, Madison Discount Tobacco & Beer on North Gallatin Pike, and Litton's Corner Market on Gallatin Pike.
Officials said the stores were selling products called Viva Zen, Mr. Smiley Kratom Relaxation Shot and Mr. Smiley Euphoria Party Shot, which contain a chemical, called Mytragynine, deemed illegal in Tennessee because of its opiate qualities.
Police say they received tips from parents and students from a nearby school. State Sen. Mae Beavers, R-Mt. Juliet, was instrumental in passing the ban on these drinks just last year.
"We're here close to a school today, so you can see how convenient it was for students to walk across the street to get some of these drugs," Beavers said.
Police warn that even though some of the drinks may look harmless, be careful.
"If it doesn't come from a manufacturer that you can identify, this could very well have been made in somebody's bathtub," said Metro Police Chief Steve Anderson.
The stores will remain closed until Monday when their owners are due to appear in court.
