Several people who are employed through contract by the City of Montgomery are complaining that they have yet to receive their paychecks.
WSFA 12 News reached out to city officials to find out why some people haven't been paid and the city says the issue is with the postal service.
Michael Briddell, Director of Public Information for Montgomery, says the issue does not involve city employees, only contractors who do business with the city.
Briddell says there was a problem with the postal service for last week's check-run and that the city is working to track down the reason for the delay.
Approximately 700 checks were cut and sent to the post office, Briddell says, and some of those checks have cleared the bank. But other vendors and contractors say they haven't gotten their checks.
Many of the affected vendors and contractors say they need their money immediately and Briddell says they are having their original checks canceled and new ones cut in their place.
