CLANTON, AL (WSFA) -

A 3-year-old boy in Clanton will be able to live longer, thanks to the Make-A-Wish Alabama organization.

The Make-A-Wish organization teamed up with All Star Pool and Spa, Supreme Electric, American Concrete Foundations and Wall, Crane Works and Alabama Teen Challenge to grant Jacob's wish of getting his own therapy pool.

Jacob Jones doesn't realize it, but swimming keeps him alive. Jacob suffers from Tay-Sach's disease, a genetic disease that affects the nervous system. According to Jacob's mom, Erica, the life expectancy is between three and five years. The disease causes his nervous system to deteriorate and he is unable to speak, but relies on emotions to communicate with family and friends.

"He's always been a very social baby," Erica said. "He's always smiling and happy. That's always been his greatest quality."

Jacob has daily seizures and is confined to a wheelchair. He is constantly hooked up to a suction machine and feeding machine, which helps keep him alive. Swimming keeps Jacob active and helps his body curb his condition.

Jacob received his new pool on Saturday with his family and friends watching. The heated spa measures 12 feet long, seven feet wide and more than four feet tall.

"I'm extremely proud of him," Erica, said. "It's made me honored, extremely honored to be his mom. He inspires me to do my best, that's what he deserves."
