TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) -

The Jaws of Life were used on Sunday to rescue a driver in a Toledo accident. The two-car crash happened around 2:30 a.m. on Dorr Street near Reynolds Road.

According to Toledo police on the scene, the driver of a white car collided with a gray car before smashing into a tree. One witness told police the two cars were drag racing on Dorr, cutting each other off before crashing.

The driver and passenger in the gray vehicle were taken to the hospital for treatment. They have since been treated and released.

As for the driver of the white car, he was cut out with the Jaws of Life and taken to the hospital. His condition is unknown at this time.

Dorr was closed for three hours while investigators pieced together what happened. Workers spent several hours picking up debris from the wreck and raking grass where the two cars landed.

"And as he completes his investigation, we'll have more information and charges will be forthcoming at that time, whether it's just traffic charges or if it's gonna reach the level of some type of further criminal charges. And we'll have to wait and see until the investigators finish with the scene and calculate on everything," said Sgt. Joe Heffernan with the Toledo police.

The investigation continues to determine if this was a drag race or road rage.
