BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) - On Thursday afternoon, some final touches were being made to Regions Field to get it ready for Friday's exhibition game against the Chicago White Sox. The game is sold out, and General Manager Jonathan Nelson says that says a lot about the city's support.

"This is a big deal for us," Nelson said.

The Barons are coming off of a stellar first season. Now the team is gearing up for season two downtown.

Inside the ballpark, some things will remain the same, but fans will see a few new additions.

"We introduced new concessions last week. We're introducing Philly Cheese Steak nachos, Steel City Burger, which is our different twist to a great unique burger," Nelson said. "And of course boneless wings as well. We're also introducing more craft beers here at Regions Field."

For the first time, the Barons will host concerts on Thursdays and select weekend nights.

Businesses around Regions Field are also getting excited for Friday's game. For weeks, Good People Brewing Company has been getting things ready. They are looking forward to taking advantage of the sold out crowd before and after the game.

Nelson hopes last season's big accomplishments will continue into this season.

"We look at that as building a solid foundation to what we want to continue to accomplish in this community. And that's providing affordable family fun for everybody," Nelson added.

Gates open up at 4pm. A pre game concert will take place at 4:30. And the first pitch is set for 6.
