BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) -

Birmingham police officers are investigating a triple shooting in the Wylam community. It happened around 12:30 p.m. on Easter Sunday at Minnieville Park.

Police say three males, who knew each other, got into a fight that led to the shooting. One of the victims was shot in the throat and is said to have life threatening injuries. The other two are expected to recover.

When the shooting happened there were three children playing on the playground. The kids were not harmed, but were shaken up by the ordeal.

Andre Allen, who lives nearby, says he heard the shots and ran to the park to help. He says one of the victims was walking down the street and the other two were in the park. He called 911 and tried to help.

"We had some other people out here. My nephews and cousins who was over there as well trying to put compressions on, trying to hold the bleeding until the paramedics could get here," said Allen.

Allen says he's never seen somthing like this happen at the park before.

"We do have people out here, they play basketball, they get to arguing and that type of thing. But other than that for something to happen like it did today, we've never had that to happen. I've been here all my life and we've never had nothing happen," Allen said.

Officers have not released the names of the victims.
