A campaign to promote and expand equality for the LGBT community in the south is launching in Montgomery.
Project One America is run by the Human Rights Campaign and will specifically work with Alabama, Mississippi and Arkansas through a three-year initiative.
The main goals of this program are to change hearts and minds about the LGBT community in the south, to advance legal protections, and to build more inclusive environments in churches and the work place. The organizers of this campaign gathered on the steps of the capitol to discuss these program goals.
There will be full time local staff in each state to give a round-the-clock effort to this cause. The Human rights Campaign is investing $8.5 million to this initiative for the next three years.
