Governor Robert Bentley will be visiting southwest Alabama on Saturday to survey flood damage from recent storms and also attend the tenth annual Blue Star Salute in Mobile.
Gov. Bentley's first stop will be the Blue Star Salute which is held annually to honor Alabamians who are currently serving or have served in the Armed Forces. Gov. Bentley will be the keynote speaker at the event which begins at 10 a.m. at the USS Alabama Battleship Memorial Park.
After the Blue Star Salute event, Gov. Bentley will tour areas in Baldwin County that were damaged by flooding caused by heavy rains. Gov Bentley announced on May 3, that Baldwin County had been approved for disaster assistance from FEMA in response to the severe weather outbreak that hit Alabama. Now the Governor and Alabama EMA Director Art Faulkner will survey the damage first hand.
The tour will begin at Big Daddy's Restaurant in Fairhope at 11:30 a.m.
