GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Greenville Police said an officer was struck by a car fleeing the Shemwood Crossing apartment complex Saturday night.

Two officers got out of their patrol car and approached a suspicious vehicle playing loud music in the parking lot, police said. When one of the officers shined a flashlight in to the car, police said the driver took off, hitting the officer as he fled and rolling over the officer's leg.

The officer was taken to the hospital.

On Sunday, police said the officer was in serious condition.

He was released from the hospital on Monday.

Police said the suspect was last seen driving along Shemwood Lane in a gray sedan, possibly a Honda.

Anyone with information that could lead to an arrest is asked to call the Greenville Police Department at (864) 271-5333 or Crime Stoppers at (864) 23-CRIME.
