The Auburn Police Department arrested a man on Thursday on two separate reports of burglary and theft.
Police arrested 24-year-old John Beckham Thorneberry II on charges of third degree burglary, second degree theft of property, receiving stolen property and possession of drug paraphernalia. The arrests are a result of an investigation into two separate burglary and theft cases.
Police say that on May 12, a resident in the 600 block of DeKalb Street reported that someone had broken into their residence while they were away and stole electronic devices valued at $2,400.
Thorneberry was developed as a suspect after he sold some of the stolen property. A laptop, valued at $1,000 and was taken from another residence in the 600 block of DeKalb Street on April 18, was recovered during a search of Thorneberry's residence. He was charged with second degree receiving stolen property in connection to the April 18 robbery.
Officers also located drug paraphernalia and stolen items from both cases in Thorneberry's residence worth a total value of $3,400.
Police are still investigating the two cases and additional charges are possible. Thorneberry was transported to the Lee County Detention Facility and held on a bond of $9,500.
