Body found lying in a Birmingham street prompts homicide investigation

BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) -

Birmingham police are looking for a suspect after a man's body was found face down on a road on Saturday night.

Birmingham police responded to a call of a person down in the 1200 Block of Lawson Road shortly after 10 p.m. on Saturday, May 17.

When police arrived on the scene, they found the victim lying face down in the street with what appeared to be gunshot wounds.

The Jefferson County Coroner's Office identified the victim as James Farentino Madden, a 41-year-old black male from Muscle Shoals. He was prounounced dead on the scene.

A neighbor who lives near the location where the body was found says he's in disbelief over what happened in his community.

"Wow. I don't know what to say. It's unusual for something like that to happen here ... It's not common here," Australia Harris said.

So far, no arrests have been made in the case.
