Blue Wahoos walk-off with 10-9 win over Barons

Birmingham, AL — The Pensacola Blue Wahoos walked-off with a 10-9 victory over the Birmingham Barons Friday night in front of 5,038 fans at Pensacola Bayfront Stadium.

The Barons fell behind 6-1 after two inning as starter Myles Jaye struggled in his 10th start of the season, allowing six runs on six hits and three walks over 1.0+ IP.

Relievers Bryan Blough and David Cales held the Blue Wahoos scoreless over the next 5.0 IP as they combined to strike out five without allowing a hit over five scoreless frames.

The stellar relief allowed the Barons offense to tie the game, scoring five unanswered runs including a two-run home run by Christian Marrero. They would tie the game in the 6th inning on RBI hits by Jeremy Farrell, Kevan Smith and Marrero.

Pensacola would retake the lead in the bottom half of the seventh, scoring a run against Kevin Vance on an RBI single by Steve Selsky.

The Barons took their first lead of the game in the eighth, scoring three runs on a Jamie Pedroza double and a Trayce Thompson base hit to take a 9-7 lead.

The lead would hold until the ninth inning when Pensacola rallied to win the game on a two-run double by Chris Berset against reliever Nestor Molina (1-2, 7.08). Outfielder Josh Richmond looked to have a play on the ball but lost controlafter crashing into the outfield wall on the decisive play.

Pedroza and Smith paced the Barons offense, finishing with three hits apiece as theBarons outhit the Blue Wahoos 15-10 but committed three errors including a key catchers interference to lead off the ninth inning.

With the loss, the Barons fell to 18-29 on the year while Pensacola improved to 21-27. The Barons will look to rebound tomorrow night as LHP Scott Snodgress (2-3, 4.34) takes the hill against RHP Micahel Lorenzen (2-2, 2.26). First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 PM CDT on Saturday.
