The Samford football program has added Western Michigan transfer Roosevelt Donaldson to its team for the 2014 season, head coach Pat Sullivan announced Tuesday.

"It feels good to be here," Donaldson, who started classes at Samford on Monday, said. "I really like the coaching staff, the environment and the players here. I feel like I can make an impact on the team. I feel like I can come in and make something happen."

Donaldson (6-1, 276) is a defensive lineman from Cutler Bay, Fla., and Miami Southridge High School. He played in all 11 games, including two starts in 2013 at Western Michigan. He finished the season with 27 tackles, including 16 solo stops. Donaldson also had four tackles for a loss for the Broncos.

Donaldson was rated a three-star recruit by ESPN.com with a Scout grade of 75 as a senior at Miami Southridge. He also ranked as a two-star recruit by Rivals.com.

Samford opens the 2014 season on August 30, when the team plays at TCU. The game is scheduled for a 6 p.m. (CT) kickoff, and it will be televised live on FOX Sports Net.
