Two Samford Freshmen Earn All-America Honors

Samford outfielders Heath Quinn and T.J. Dixon were named to the Louisville Slugger Freshman All-America team, released by Collegiate Baseball Wednesday morning.

Quinn was named the Southern Conference's Freshman of the Year, and he was named second team All-Conference, as well as All-Freshman, at the conclusion of the season. He hit .319, ranking third overall on the team, and second among every-day starters. He led the team in doubles with 20, and he ranked second in hits with 73. Quinn tied for second on the team in RBI with 48, and he tied for third on the squad in home runs with nine.

Dixon was named to the SoCon's All-Freshman team following the regular season. He led the Southern Conference in walks this season with 41. He hit .260 with 10 doubles, two triples and 20 RBI as the team's every-day center fielder. His led the team in stolen bases with 19 in 25 attempts. His triples total ranked second on the squad.

Quinn and Dixon helped lead the Bulldogs to a 35-25 overall record; marking just the third time the team has won 35 games in program history. The team reached the finals of the Southern Conference Tournament for the third time in the last four years.
