Tonight may be the calm before the stormy weather. We're keeping a watchful eye on the active weather to our north.
Storms in Kentucky and Tennessee are sliding southward thanks to a cool front. This front will be the focus for a few severe storms tomorrow afternoon and evening. It's possible we could even see a few storms north of I-20 during the overnight.
The main event is expected between 2 p.m. and 9 p.m. Thursday. While this is not a tornado setup, we are seeing the ingredients for thunderstorms capable of high winds, lightning, and hail.
It's possible we could experience winds over 50 mph Thursday afternoon thanks to incredible atmospheric instability. Stay weather alert and be on the lookout for severe weather warnings and watches Thursday.
The threat for severe storms will lessen Thursday evening with another round of strong to severe storms likely Friday.
