Some changes are being made to certain Jefferson County schools and you could see them as soon as football season starts. Those changes include a total of five schools.
Clay-Chalkville's stadium will soon be filled with astro turf. The school board is working with the city on this project. They're hoping to have it ready for the first football game. Also, Pinson Valley High School's football field will be getting re-sodded.
If you have kids at Bagley Middle School or Corner Elementary School, you may be seeing some changes come next year. Jefferson County Superintendent Dr. Bobby Neighbors says there is talk of reconfiguring the two schools. If this talk turned into action, Bagley Junior High School would house grades K-4 while Corner Elementary took in grades 5-8. Dr. Neighbors hopes to see this project take place in 2015.
"That's our goal and it will give us a chance to let people get their input and think about it a little and after they think about it an dfind out what we're looking at so maybe everybody will be supportive of that."
Dr. Neighbors emphasized this is not a school closing situation.
North Jefferson Middle School received a lot of damage in this past April's tornadoes. Neighbors says crews are in the process of completing the project. The roof and gym floor were a couple of areas that got slammed. Dr. Neighbors hopes work on the gym and roof will begin next week.
