Central Alabama is no longer under a severe thunderstorm warning.
Earlier today thunderstorms packing high winds, hail, and cloud to ground lightning hammered the northern part of our viewing area. Those storms have now moved into Georgia.
During the overnight hours, we can expect a cloudy sky with temperatures fall into the lower 70s.
Friday morning should be mainly dry with a good chance of thunderstorms developing during the afternoon and early evening. Some of those storms could again be strong with the primary threat high winds, small hail, and lightning from 2 p.m. until 9 p.m.
The severe threat will extend farther to the south than it was today. This means storms could impact Tuscaloosa, Birmingham, Hoover, Alabaster and Talladega.
This weekend, you can expect scattered thunderstorms in the afternoon.
Tune in starting at 9 p.m. for the latest weather update and keep up 24/7 through our WBRC Weather app and online at http://www.myfoxal.com/weather.
