The U.S. Department of Justice is at Tutwiler Prison for Women this week, meeting with the Alabama Department of Corrections.
A Department of Corrections official says this is part of a continuing investigation into sex abuse and what the DOJ calls "unconstitutional conditions" at the prison. Because of that, corrections' officials say they cannot give us any details on the meetings. They do say they are working on reforms at the prison.
Fox6 News has reported on the conditions at the prison for two years, since a federal complaint was filed alleging widespread abuse of inmates by prison employees.
