Severe storms may return to the forecast this afternoon. This is a similar setup to yesterday where only parts of the area see a threat for storms. The greatest risk today will be areas West of I-65. We can expect thunderstorms to develop after 2 p.m. and continue through at least 8 p.m. The storms will be fueled by a very juicy airmass. Dewpoint temperatures are in the upper 60s to lower 70s.
This is a not a tornado threat, but a threat for damaging winds, hail, and frequent lightning. Rainfall will be very heavy with these storms. With the amount of instability this afternoon, I would expect winds over 40mph with many of these storms.
Storms should weaken later tonight leaving us with partly cloudy skies with lows around 70.
Stay weather alert. Fox6 will provide updates on-air and online throughout the day.
