ANNISTON, AL (WBRC) -

An Anniston man will go to trial next month for allegedly assaulting the former mayor of Anniston.

Travis Ronacher has been charged with third degree assault in connection to a May 8 incident. He was arrested May 28 and is free on bond.

A complaint signed by Gene Robinson alleges Ronacher pushed him in the chest and caused Robinson to hit his head on the concrete. Neither party has said what lead to the incident.

Robinson served as mayor from 2008 to 2012 and still co-owns a business in downtown Anniston.

Ronacher's trial has been set for July 14.
