An ArkLaTex town has approved a plan to dedicate its only park in honor of its most famous former resident, the late poet Maya Angelou.
On Tuesday, the Stamps, Arkansas City Council voted to dedicate the park for Angelou who died May 28.
Angelou lived in Stamps as a child but she was later critical of the town in her acclaimed autobiography, "I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings."
But Stamps Mayor David Bright proposed the dedication after getting an outpour of letters and calls from the public asking for the memorial.
We'll keep you posted on when the city will officially dedicate the park.
