From UAB Sports Information:

UAB's Elinor Kirk was named the Conference USA Outdoor Track Athlete of the Year, the league office announced on Thursday.

"What another great award for Eli," head coach Kurt Thomas said. "When you're voted by your peers and conference coaches to such an award, it really speaks to the level that she was running at this year. Eli takes nothing for granted and I know she'll cherish this award just like the others with grace and humility."

"There isn't an athlete that's been more decorated nor more deserving at UAB," assistant coach Tony Houchin said. "We are certainly going to miss her."

The Swansea, Wales native capped off her UAB career two weeks ago at the NCAA Championships where she earned First-Team All-Americahonors in both the 5,000-meter and 10,000-meter runs. Kirk claimed a runner up finish in the 10K and finished seventh in the 5K to lead UAB to a tie for 22nd at the championships.

Kirk ran the nation's fastest time in the 10K all season and was named C-USA Track Performer of the Meet. She was also named the USTFCCCA South Region Track Athlete of the Year following her very successful 2013-14 season.
