LAKE NORFORK, AR (KAIT) - Police identified the body of a man found floating in Norfork Lake Friday afternoon. Baxter County Sheriff John Montgomery says the body of Jerry Dale Miller, age 67 of Hardy, was found floating under the water. His boat was also submerged. Montgomery says Miller's family told them he went fishing alone that morning.
Kids on a jet ski discovered a body in the water at Lake Norfork Friday afternoon. Baxter County Sheriff John Montgomery says jet skiers saw what they thought was a body floating in an area known as Cove 1C about a mile and a half east of Woods Point. They made their way to a boat dock and called 911.
Investigators along with the Fulton County Sheriff's office dive team recovered the body. The boat remains in about 18 feet of water. They were able to see the boat's registration and believe the owner is the person that died. No name has been released pending next of kin notification.
Montgomery says the body has been sent to the state crime lab for autopsy. The department plans to raise the boat from the water to determine how it sank and the man died.
