MIAMI COUNTY, KS (KCTV) -

A 57-year-old Gardner man died while he was jet skiing on Hillsdale Lake, authorities said.

The man was an experienced jet skier, according to those who knew him. A sergeant for the Miami County Sheriff's Office said the man was wearing a life jacket and a safety cord that would kill the jet ski's ignition switch if he fell off. He was found in about three feet of water.

The jet ski was found near the man's body in the western portion of the lake.

An autopsy will determine whether Timothy R. Jackson drowned or suffered a medical condition that led to his death.

Jackson and a friend had been jet skiing when the friend left the lake about 5:30 p.m. Saturday. Jackson stayed to continue jet skiing.

After he didn't come home, concerned family members reported Jackson missing about 10:15 a.m. Sunday. His body was recovered about 12:30 p.m. Sunday, the sheriff's office said.

This is the second drowning at Hillsdale Lake this season. A father drowned at the lake when he jumped in to retrieve a toy.

An 18-year-old man drowned Saturday afternoon at Longview Lake in Jackson County as he and three friends were swimming across a cove.
