CULLMAN, AL (WBRC) -

Hundreds of volunteers are searching high and low for two dogs missing after an accident near Cullman.

Volunteers searched near the crash site on Wednesday in hopes that the dogs will return to that location.

State troopers say the accident happened Sunday evening at 5:40 p.m. on I-65 at mile marker 297, three miles south of Dodge City.

A tractor trailer and 2004 Honda were involved. The occupants of the Honda, Seth Hatfield and his wife, Olivia Hatfield, were both injured. Seth is okay but Olivia is still in critical condition at UAB.

Their dogs, Molly and Claire, were also in the vehicle and have been missing since the accident.

Family friend Elliott Thomas, who organized the search for the dogs, says the Hatfields were returning home to Nashville after a family reunion in Dothan.

"We've got articles of clothing. We've got things that belong to their owners in hopes of giving them something to relate to. Something that smells like home. Please don't chase the dogs. Please don't go after the dogs because they are likely to run away," Thomas said.

The investigation into the accident continues.

Volunteers say they are in need of supplies, traps and food. If you are interested in helping out, join the Facebook group "Help find Molly & Claire!" So far there are more than 800 members.
