LIMESTONE COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -

A man serving time in an Alabama prison pleaded guilty to killing his ex-wife in Florida.

According to Fort Myers NBC affiliate WBBH, Daniel Proctor pleaded guilty to second-degree murder Wednesday.

Investigators said he killed Amy Patterson in 2011 and then dumped her in the woods. Patterson was a native of Huntsville.

The plea deal includes a 25-year sentence, but the judge said she will decide on a sentence after she hears from Patterson's family.

Proctor was convicted of theft in Madison County. He is currently serving a life sentence in the Limestone County detention facility.
