COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -

Memorial services were held Saturday, July 5, for Paul Amos, a man who was the last surviving co-founder of Aflac.

Hundreds packed into Saint Luke United Methodist Church in Columbus, Ga. to remember Amos' life.

Amos and his two brothers founded the company in Columbus in 1955, and turned it into a Fortune 500 company.

At the service, Joey Loudermilk, spoke of the time he worked with Amos.

"At every Aflac meeting we attended, and it must have been hundreds over the years, it was evident Mr. Paul was the most popular person in the room. Except perhaps when Ms. Gene was with him," said Loudermilk.

Amos was raised in Enterprise, Ala. and Milton, Fla.

According to his family, Amos was suffering from a lengthy illness when he died Wednesday night, July 2. His son, Dan Amos, says his father will be remembered as a straight-shooter and a gentleman.
