VIENNA (CNN) – U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry is in Vienna, Austria on Sunday to join world leaders for Iran nuclear talks.

Iran and six world powers are engaged in negotiations aimed at reaching a permanent deal on Tehran's nuclear program.

Tehran insists its ambitions are peaceful, but the world powers fear it plans to build nuclear weapons.

The deadline for a deal is July 20.

Kerry also plans to speak with his German counterpart amid fresh spying allegations.

On Thursday, Germany's government asked America's top spy chief stationed there to leave.

Kerry's stop in Austria follows an unannounced visit to Afghanistan amid growing division following the country's contested presidential runoff election.

A deal was reached in Kabul between the two presidential rivals who agreed to abide by an audit of the recent vote.
