SANDY, UT (KSTU/FOX) - A former Canyons School District bus driver, already charged with sexually molesting one 5-year-old girl, was charged Monday with molesting another 5-year-old girl.

John Martin Carrell, 61, was charged with more than 10 counts of aggravated sexual abuse of a child and one count of attempted aggravated sexual abuse of a child, all first-degree felonies.

According to District Attorney Sim Gill, the parents of a second alleged victim came forward and said they believed their daughter, who is autistic, was also abused while on the bus. They said she was acting out in an abnormal manner.

"They were able to bring some tapes in the last while that involved this bus driver and this child, and based on what was observed there, these charges were filed," Gill said.

Canyons School District spokesman Jeff Haney said he provided Sandy police unedited footage from the bus that captured all activity for the past three months.

Carrell is being held at the Salt Lake County Jail in lieu of a total of $5 million, cash-only bail.

If convicted as charged, he faces up to life in prison.
