JACKSONVILLE, AL (WBRC) -

Bill Meehan, the president of Jacksonville State University, announced at Monday's Board of Trustees meeting that he will be retiring in June 2015.

The delay in Meehan's departure will give board members an opportunity to name a successor.

Meehan has been president since July 1999. He is a Jacksonville State alumnus who started working at the school as a biology instructor.
