BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ---- UAB's football team was back on the practice field Sunday as the Blazers donned full pads for the second time and completed their first full week of preseason camp.
Sunday's session followed the first two-practice day that head coach Bill Clark's team went through on Saturday.
"We went yesterday morning and had our parents and former players here, " said Clark. "Then, last night, we got a lot of competition in under the lights. Anytime you're coming off a two-a-day, it's tough. It was a long day (practice) today, but we were pretty lucky with some good cloud cover. All in all, I was happy. We had some guyswith some bumps and bruises but nothing major. We'll get them recovered tomorrow and go from there."
Sunday's practice wrapped up the first week of camp and Clark said overall, he's been pleased with the team's progress.
"I guess I'm never where I'd like us to be," Clark said. "They're doing everything we are asking them to do. The effort has been there, but along with that effort, we expect things to happen. We had a great day yesterday. This is seven days in a row, so it's a grind, but they're handling it well and I've been pleased.
The Blazers kick off the 2014 season against Troy on Aug. 30 at Legion Field. Game time is set for 11 a.m. CT.
